Rushing around, trying to weave through the high street crowds in the search for that special something for someone special during December can sometimes put us in our own little bubble.
"What does *insert name* really want? What are they interested in? What might they need?"
I think we all know the feeling where, no matter which shop we walk into nothing is quite right for who you're trying to buy a gift for and if you're online, there's only so many 'Gifts for her' pages you can click on before all the presents featured become one big, unsentimental, blur.
With festivities ahead of us, I've been thinking:
What's the most thoughtful gift you can give someone?
Clue: you won't find it in shops, you won't find it online, you'd probably need way too much wrapping paper to cover it all and if you really want somebody to go 'wow' at something you've just given them, make it this.
Wait, better. Your time + all the luxurious tea you can imagine just sitting there waiting to be brewed, ready for an afternoon of laughs and in-depth chats.
For me, there's no better gift than luxury tea giftsand the chilled afternoon shared with friends that comes with that.
As a fond lover of tea, and rarely getting the time to properly sit down, brew in hand, and spend some quality time with people that make me smile, an afternoon with my very own stunning JING glassware set and one of my fave bloggers and friend, Carrie, was the best present I could ever be given ahead of the pre-Christmas rush.
[outfit snap totally unplanned by the way, we're like two peas!]
I've been a fond reader of Carrie's blog for a long while now, in fact, years. I met Carrie at several Brighton blogger events and more recently we've been meeting for teas (and coffees) sharing blogging stories, life plans, productivity hacks and just generally recommending one another stuff we love.
I come away from our 'business meetings' (we like to call 'em!) with a renewed enthusiasm for blogging and a list of new books to read and an army of inspiring bloggers to follow.
Spending time with likeminded people is one of the most underrated but enriching things you can ever do with your time and I think we spent the whole of this particular afternoon just laughing :) It was so much fun catching up and showing Carrie around my humble abode.
So with Christmas fast approaching, and our shopping lists never ending, I propose a more sentimental gift that you can give almost anybody; your mum, your in-laws, your sister, your friends. Give them a tea gift set and the offer of a precious afternoon to spend with them, and not only will they be delighted with the yummy tea, the crystal clear luxurious glassware and the cute tea timer from JING, but they'll also see the huge level of sentiment and have a lot of fun afternoons to look forward to.
As if Carrie and I couldn't match any more with our autumnal playsuits and bright pink lippy, I gifted her an identical tea set to share with a loved one this Christmas, and plan her own afternoon tea sesh to give the gift of time.
Big thanks to JING for this one, and of course the beautiful Carrie for putting up with my awkward hosting and being photographed the minute she stepped in the door!
Check out Carrie's blog here. Her life, pups and photography never fail to stun me.
And while you're taking a look at JING's fabulous gift options, if you're on the market for some fine tea, The Yunnan Gold is a dream.
