The living room is looking more like a living room! (a few update shots) – No. 42

Thought I'd drop in and give a sneak peek at what's been going on at No. 42. Looking back on these before photos, I can't believe how far we've come.

The day we moved in. Sexy storage heating, floral power walls and a hideous 30s fireplace that needed smashing!

After removing skirting boards, coving, the fireplace, storage heater (woah that thing weighed a ton!) and sort all the electrics, it was finally time to plaster...

Then paint....

Hello fresh new Farrow & Ball (Skimming Stone) colour scheme.

The chimney was lined, the grubby carpets removed....

To reveal gorgeous, well preserved floor boards underneath.

But for such a high traffic area we couldn't live with wood so soft.

So we called in Quick Step flooring & underlay, WOW what a difference. I adore this new floor.

You'd never have guessed it was laminate right?

We hung a brand new oak door with new porcelain handles the reverse way for better flow (it's made a dramatic difference and is much better use of space). Popped on new Art Deco skirting boards...

Then installed a hearth, wood burner and fitted a fire surround.

And voille! Here's where we're at now, all furniture moved in...

My next plans for this room:

  • A new light!

  • Installing chrome switches & sockets

  • A new mirror above the mantle

  • Some shelving for my interior books!

  • Curtains for the bay window (sooo difficult to choose)

And then I think we'll be just about right.

Thanks for reading :)
