Full House Tour (Before the Renovation)
It's been just over 1 week since we moved to our house and I've got to say, I'm growing to love this carpet. NOT! :)
Believe it or not, before we even stepped foot inside this house, right before we even had a viewing, Neil and I knew it was for us – mad, I know.
The search for a house to renovate
I was craving buying somewhere that needed work, somewhere that the cost would reflect the level of work it needed and somewhere that didn’t have pokey room sizes like almost every terraced house in Brighton. And there was very little on the market when we were looking, nothing like this anyway. Fixer-uppers were all too small and overpriced for the level of work they required.
We found this house about 2 months into our search for a place, and as soon as I stepped through the door, I knew we'd be living here.
It's a little outside the centre (close to fields and hills, yay) and in a really lovely neighbourhood. The day we moved in I met some of the neighbours all welcoming our removals truck
We bought it purely for the potential it has.
The potential of the house
Once you look past the decoration, the room sizes and the layout and the garden is actually incredible (just realised we haven't taken pics of the study, the downstairs loo, the garden or outside the house so will have to add some in another time, oopsy)
The house is a 1930s semi-detached house with 3 beds, a garage, driveway, a big garden front and back, and a coal shed underneath the house.
And guess what?
We are only the second owners!
The sellers bought the place in 1936 when it was first built. They were 18 and just married, and brought up their family here, living many happy years in these 4 walls.
Even looking like this I just adore it (call me crazy, I don't care!) I think it's because I can see exactly how beautiful it will look once we give it some TLC.
Come and take a look around
I'm fine tuning ideas for what we want to do to the place (starting with downstairs) which I'll share in a second post along with a floor plan. But yeah, here it is. I can't wait to share every inch of the renovation here.
We have a super long list of the things we want to do to the place which I'll save for another post. It's safe to say we have our hands full for this one, but we're so ready for it!
Bring on the transformation :-) grantastic to fantastic!
(UPDATE: See what we did to the place in our house renovation before and after post)
