My week in photos [003] An interior class & farmers market
I'm a bit late in sharing my weekly photos because I've spent the last 48 hours gripping a cup of lemsip fighting off an illness :( better it be now than Christmas day, I keep telling myself!
Thankfully I got everything I had planned out of the way before I started getting sick. This week has been a lot of fun and A LOT of learning.
It began with a trip to a local farmers market in Falmer, about a 5 min drive away from our house in Brighton. I love going to farmers markets if only for the colours! We picked up some bits and pieces for the cupboards and went to look at their real christmas trees... I say "look", I mean smell! You know Christmas is round the corner when you can smell the pine trees!
Later on we prepped the house for Christmas cheer :)
Decoration wise since we moved in, it's only our living room and bedroom that feel ready to style, but because I'm waiting on shelving getting fitted, and generally need a bit more time to pull together colour schemes and layouts it's very slow. I'm hoping by the new year I'll have a better idea on the colours, themes and what we need to buy when so I can start to make some progress and share shots on here more.
Those lights above our bed were £1 from poundland by the way! What an easy way to make a place feel more cosy.
Just realised I never actually got a photo of our Christmas tree because the old pink curtains from when we moved in are the backdrop to it! Ew! The Christmas tree took us 2 days to decorate though... 2 days! The first time round we realised all the fairy lights from last year were broken just as we untangled them and wound them around the tree, doh! So had to wait until the next day to buy some and continue.
It felt good to get candles and trinkets out of cardboard boxes though. I'm desperate to have shelving installed in both alcoves in our living room so I have more styling space and storage but can't work out whether I should go for cabinets at the bottom or a store for the logs... hmm.
Thursday and Friday I was in London for 2 full days of workshops. One with the KLC School of Design where I joined about 30 other interior addicts to learn about designing interiors for clients. Whilst I won't be setting up my own practice any time soon, I thought the whole day, walking through a room design from brief to concept, was really helpful for the house I have to decorate.
I'll share a longer post on this really soon, it was a great day :)
The second workshop was a full day learning PR with the brilliant Janet Murray. I love her work and met loads of ladies running incredible businesses. Some I'll be keeping in touch with.
Finally some sad and happy news...
We sold our grey sofa this week. You know the one from our old flat?
I'll miss that sofa. But it just wouldn't be practical squeezing it in to the living room we have now.
I plan to use the money we made to buy a really nice armchair instead.
Hope you've had a great week. Thanks for reading,
